American Monthly Magazine

American Monthly Magazine was the original official monthly magazine published by the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Later issues of the monthly of magazines published by NSDAR were called Daughters of the American Revolution Magazine, and The National Historical Magazine. [1] In 2001, the NSDAR split the content into two magazine. A new periodical called the American Spirit is available to the public and contains "articles pertaining to DAR objectives of historic preservation, patriotism, education, women's issues and genealogy." [1] A second periodical named, Daughters of the American Revolution Newsletter, is a membership newsletter with news from national headquarters. [1]

Ellen Hardin Walworth, one of the original four founders of the DAR, was the initial editor of the magazine. She was the periodical's editor from the spring of 1892 until July 1894. [2]
